Energy-Efficient Transmission Range and Duration for Cognitive Radio Sensor Networks

Cognitive Radio (CR) promises an efficient utilization of radio spectrum resources by enabling dynamic access to overcome the scarcity problem. Sensor Networks (CRSNs) are one type Wireless (WSNs) equipped with CR capabilities. CRSN nodes need operate energy-efficiently extend network lifetime due their limited battery capacity. In this paper, for first time in literature, we formulate problem finding a common energy-efficient transmission range and duration all deployment that would minimize energy consumed per goodput meter toward sink greedy forwarding scenario. Results reveal non-trivial relations as function nine critical parameters such primary user activity levels. These provide valuable insights detailed designs prior deployment.
